Enough of our photos of Cornwall for a moment. This week I’ve chosen a photo of an apple from stock.xchng which has lovely rich reds, oranges and yellows.

Lovely juicy apple

Here are the accessible combinations:

Julie’s colour scheme

This is very exciting as we have received our first submitted colour scheme, so thanks to Julie for the following:

Colour block: #204e77
#204e77
Colour block: #a99a89
#a99a89
Colour block: #7d6488
#7d6488
Colour block: #5d1f22
#5d1f22
Colour block: #ffaa01
#ffaa01

There is just one accessible pairing of colours in this selection:

1. #5d1f22 and #ffaa01 Example 1.1 Example 1.2

I would therefore suggest changing the orange for white and maybe lightening the taupe a bit, to give the following:

Colour block: #204e77
#204e77
Colour block: #cfc7bd
#cfc7bd
Colour block: #7d6488
#7d6488
Colour block: #5d1f22
#5d1f22
Colour block: #ffffff
#ffffff

And these accessible combinations:

1. #ffffff and #204e77 Example 1.1 Example 1.2
2. #ffffff and #7d6488 Example 2.1 Example 2.2
3. #ffffff and #5d1f22 Example 3.1 Example 3.2
4. #cfc7bd and #204e77 Example 4.1 Example 4.2
5. #cfc7bd and #5d1f22 Example 5.1 Example 5.2

Of course there are other ways of increasing the contrast between the suggested colours - instead of bringing in the white I could have chosen a lighter shade of orange so that it would work with the blue. Thanks again for the suggestion, keep them coming!

This colour scheme could be used for a corporate-style website. It is a combination of blues with red as a highlight colour. Accessible pairings of colours are as follows:

1. #5e191c and #ffffff Example 1.1 Example 1.2
2. #2c313b and #ffffff Example 2.1 Example 2.2

Another colour scheme using red as the accent colour. The colours are predominantly browns and cream, but with the strong red to add interest. Accessible pairings of colours are as follows:

1. #790026 and #ffffcc Example 1.1 Example 1.2
2. #3d240c and #ffffcc Example 2.1 Example 2.2
3. #513923 and #ffffcc Example 3.1 Example 3.2

This colour scheme consists of strong greens, a light green for highlighting and a strong red for accent colour. The strong colours can’t be used together to convey information as the contrast is very poor, however combinations of the darkest greens or red on white offers an excellent level of contrast. Accessible pairings of colours are as follows:

1. #5d1f22 and #ffffff Example 1.1 Example 1.2
2. #2a3f1c and #ffffff Example 2.1 Example 2.2
3. #4c663a and #ffffff Example 3.1 Example 3.2
4. #5d1f22 and #edf0eb Example 4.1 Example 4.2
5. #2a3f1c and #edf0eb Example 5.1 Example 5.2
